Chevrolet Camaro Platform Underpins GM's New Vehicle

The General Motors President for North American, Mark Reuss, said that the automaker will unveil their new vehicle which is based on the Chevrolet Camaro platform. Reuss said that GM will show  their new vehicle at the Chicago auto show which will be coming over next week. He said that GM is planned to unveil at least one other new vehicle at this event.

Reuss claims to the reporters that it will surely be fun. He is not willing to give us another information about their new product, more than what he showed on the presentation. “I’d ruin the whole show,” he said. The company will advertise the Chevrolet Camaro in one of the six ads that will run during the Super Bowl. Reuss also said that Chevrolet Volt’s sales were somewhat low over the last two months, because GM is working to get demonstration Volts to the dealers.

“We are filling the dealer demo program so that all dealers of Chevrolet will get a chance to sell more cars. It drives sales,” said Reuss. He said that GM was pretty much flat for their incentive spending on last January. However, he also said that GMwill no longer disclose their incentive spending. He think that they are giving too much.

Mahindra Pickup Only Good For 19/21 mpg?

Mahindra Pickup Only Good For 19/21 mpg?

I don’t know why the Indian truck/SUV maker, Mahindra, could miss their fuel economy goal by about one third. The supposed U.S. distributor for Mahindra, Global Vehicles of Marietta, has had an oft stated goal for 30 mpg highway fuel economy for this clean diesel truck. However according to FuelEconomy.gov site, this four wheel drive Mahindra TR40 has 4 cylinder diesel engine has been rated at only 19mpg for city and 21 mpg for highway by the EPA.

For your comparison to that rating, the 4×4 2011 Dodge Dakota which has 3.7 liter V6 engine is rated at 14/18. The TR40′s awful highway mileage doesn’t even able to  match with Ford F-150′s 3.7 liter vehicle which is rated at 16 city/23 highway. Another car, the 4×4 Ford Ranger, is rated at 14 city/18 highway.

Mahindra’s pickup truck is offering a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds with a payload of 2,765 pounds. Mahindra and GV had count the fuel economy angle to get to the truck buyer’s radar. Unfortunately the differential between the Mahindra TR40 diesel truck’s mileage with the gas powered competition will not be a surprise. Global Vehicles said, “Good fuel economy is important for the truck’s appeal, and we’re eager to see the fuel economy for all models especially the two wheel drive, two door models.

Williams FW33 For F1 Unveiled

Williams FW33 For F1 Unveiled

Williams has followed the other Formula 1 teams that has already revealed their 2011 challengers at the Valencia test session. They are announcing the new FW33. Unlike their rival, Lotus Renault GP which has launched their livery before rolling out the car, Williams choose to run the new car at the test session with minimal sponsor logos.

Williams racing team is actually sticking with Cosworth power for 2011, but despite developing a flywheel based KERS for 2009 which is never actually ran, but already supplied to Porsche’s hybrid GT3 car, Williams switched to the new battery based system that ran for the first time at Valencia. Moreover, Williams-Cosworth FW33 follows mostly the same general ideas with other Formula 1 cars with a high nose, culpted engine cover, and the side pods. Rubens Barrichello will take control of the car, alongside with the newcomer Pastor Maldonado.

WIlliams also announced their plans to proceed with the IPO which has been previously reported on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, floating some amount over a quarter of the shares as well as ensuring that Frank Williams will remains on controlling the shareholder and team principal for years to come.
