Additional Seatbelt Lawsuits from the Supreme Court

The U.S. Supreme Court has now ruled that the car manufacturer can be sued on its product liability complaints, no matter if the vehicles meet the federal motor vehicle safety standards or not. The decision was created after the confrontation of Williamson with Mazda Motor of America, where the family of a woman who had a crash in their 1993 MPV as you see in the picture above sued Mazda for not having a three point belt for her seating position.

The accident was happened in 2002 and takes the life of Thanh Williamson after crashing with another vehicle, and the other passengers were saved thanks to the three point belts. Actually the three point seatbelt was not required by law at the time the car was built and sold. This new ruling might caused Mazda to be prone to other lawsuits by their consumers.

This ruling will also open for another interpretation for Geier vs American Honda Motor Company in 2000. The Federal regulation where the products was seen as precluding any contradictory state statues. However with this latest decision, the thing might change significantly, not just for automobiles. Some reaction to this decision were negative, with Ford and other car companies down one or two percent.

FBI And U.S. Department of Justice Sued for Crashing A Ferrari

FBI And U.S. Department of Justice Sued for Crashing A Ferrari

The U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have caused themselves in trouble because of a destruction of Ferrari F50. The Detroit News said that the vehicle was stolen from a dealership at Pennsylvania in 2003, and the dealer has made an insurance claim for $ 750,000 at that time.

Motor Insurance Corp. gave them the money, but FBI found the vehicle in Kentucky on August 2008. FBI stored the vehicle while they are waiting to do something to the thief, but someone at the bureau decided to use it. The car was lost its control and struck a tree when a special agent drove it in May 2009, so Motor Insurance Corp. sued the FBI and U.S. department of Justice for another $ 750,000. However, both of them rejected it because the Ferrari was being detained at that time.

The insurance company was managed to gold an email which said that U.S. Assistant Attorney J. Hamilton Thompson with Special Agent Frederick C. Kingston was used the car on the day of that accident, and the vehicle slid sideway not long after leaving FBI’s the storage warehouse.

Lexus Giving A Closer Look Of LFA Nurburgring Package

It takes a pretty long time for us to get around the Lexus LFA Nurburgring package. The six figure V10 supercar from ToMoCo fitted with extra kit for a track duty. Lexus announed in last May that they will make 50 examples, and in the Geneva Motor Show, it will finally unveiled to the public. Now in less than a week from the event, they are announcing more details on it.

While it has ten extra horsepower, it won’t give the Nurburgring package a quicker acceleration time nor a higher top speed. This extra power will counteract the drag of its giant rear wing to maintain this supercar on the ground. Lexus also confirmed that the interior can be trimmed in black, black and purple, or black and red. There is also carbon fiber interior only for European.

Lexus will also offering a one on one option to their customers from the Ring Master or Mistress and the free lap on Nordschleife to your heart’s content. This $ 70,000 cost was included at the LFA price of $ 350,000, while you need another $ 20,000 for a matte black finish.
