Next Cadillac CTS Has Coupe Version

Cadillac seems to change their plans again for the next generation of their CTS, as the report said that they are developing a coupe model to fill out the rest of the empty space at their line when it comes in 2013. This is happen because of the Cadillac’s mid level fighter will be only exist in sedan form. While this coupe is coming, the convertible buyers has actually left to the next competitor of BMW 3 Series which is called the Cadillac ATS.

That prediction is coming as the more traditional coupe roofline and folding convertible top model would be easier to be integrated to the ATS’s rump compared to the angular model CTS. Motor Trend said that for the next generation of the CTS, Cadillac will change the car’s underpinnings from the sigma platform into Alpha rear drive platform like what you see at the next Chevrolet Camaro.

The other rumor also said that Cadillac is currently working for a more radical design for the next generation of the CTS Coupe which seems to be in the same market with the Chevrolet Camaro. There are also some reports before that Cadillac might also produce a low volume flagship with six figure price point.

A Pair of Jaguar Designer Edition Coming to AutoRAI

A Pair of Jaguar Designer Edition Coming to AutoRAI

Not all auto shows in this world were received the spotlights from the media. AutoRAI at Holland is one of the example. Although it is including in a small auto show, it still has a fare share for new debuts. One of the most anticipated debut will be from Jaguar. You can say that it is an awkward decision, but it is real that Jaguar has chosen the Amsterdam expo to announce the successor of their X-Type.

Jaguar won’t come to the expo with empty hand and only bringing some future details. They have created the special series which is aimed specifically for the Dutch market. The car is called the Designer Edition and is available on either XF and XJ models. Both of them will be powered with 3.0 liter V6 engine with Stratus Grey London paint which looks a little bit green. There will be tan leather and piano black lacquer trim for the interior.

Jaguar will only made 20 units of each car for the market. The XF model will be costs €77,790 or $ 110,000 with the current rate, while the XJ at €121,290 $ 171,000.

2012 Subaru Impreza Seen

2012 Subaru Impreza Seen

Subaru has released some pictures of the 2012 Subaru Impreza sedan which is aimed for New York Auto Show debut. Now, the spy photographers from Autoblog have take a spy pics of the new Subaru out in the public road to show its fresh face. Unfortunately, the production model for the Impreza might pretty drastically changed from the hot concept car that we’ve seen at Los Angeles Auto Show last November.

Subaru still don’t want to publish on what is exactly under the hood of their new Impreza, but the black model at the picture above might be the base model. But they have already confirmed that the new version of the boxer flat four powerplant will exist with the rate of 36 miles per gallon on highway. That might be the best rate for an all wheel drive vehicle.

Subaru will bring the car to the market in both sedan and hatchback model, and as I said before, an all wheel drive will be standard. For the designation, you may have to wait until the 2012 STI and WRX shown before making any speculation.

Hyundai Veloster Turbo with 208 Horsepower

Hyundai Veloster Turbo with 208 Horsepower

There is a lot of news about the 2012 Hyundai Veloster before. I think that the car is certainly looks a little faster than what it really is. You can see it from the 1.6 liter four cylinder engine which is able to produce 138 horsepower that pretty good for the car. Previously, there is some reports that the turbocharged version of the Hyundai Veloster is on the pipeline, but the details haven’t seen yet.

If you think that the news from the Hyundai forums are reliable, here it is. The forum said that the Veloster Turbo will bring 1.6 liter GDI turbo engine that is producing 208 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 195 pound feet of torque at 5,000 rpm. For most vehicle, those figures were not good enough. But remember that the Veloster is only weighing 2,600 pound. It means that the car’s pounds-per-power ratio reached 12.48.

Moreover as the car is using 1.6 liter engine, I think that the car is able to reach 40 miles per gallon in highway, so it is pretty economist. Surely, the rumors of the turbocharged Veloster is interesting. However, we still need to wait for an official word from Hyundai. Hopefully those words won’t be coming for too long.

Toyota Will Resume Half Production

Toyota Will Resume Half Production

Here is a relieving news. Toyota plants in Japan which were closed due to the disaster last month is scheduled to be back to operation at April 18. Unfortunately, the facility which is responsible for creating Toyota Prius is not included to the re-worked plant. The Associated Press said that Toyota will resume their production on 18 although the assembly lines will work at only half speed.

The plants will run until April 27, and then re-opened at May 9 due to the Japan’s Golden Week holiday. Of course, that is a very short time for production window, but this step seems to be welcome news for Toyota’s rank and file. Toyota now already lost 260,000 units since the earthquake and tsunami at March 11.

This Toyota plan to going back to production is exist because the automaker is trying to fulfil the parts needed for production. Currently the Toyota’s parts situation has improved with AP reporting that the problem has been decreased from 500 to 150. Akio Toyoda, the president of Toyota, notice that the parts supply issues were still exist, but he claims that they’ve done their best to improve that condition.
